Chocolate Chip Gooey Butter cake


Crust
1 box Butter Recipe cake mix
1 egg
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted

Filling
1 8oz package Cream Cheese, softened 
2 eggs
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 16oz box powdered sugar
1/2 cup (1stick) butter, melted
1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350'
Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.
In a bowl, combine cake mix, egg and butter with electric mixer. Mix well.
Pat into bottom of prepared pan and set aside.

Still using electric mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth then add eggs and vanilla. Dump in powdered sugar and beat very well. Reduce mixer speed and slowly pour in melted butter.
Mix well and stir in the chocolate chips.

Pour filling onto cake mixture and spread out evenly. Bake for 40-50 minutes 

Remove from oven and allow to cool completely

You can also melt some chocolate and drizzle over the top. Let cool for at least an hour before cutting into bars.

  1. Oh my! Oooey Gooey Butter Cake is Great! I use to buy them at the store years ago. Weren't they originally from Missouri, near St. Louis? I will definitely be making this as soon as I lose 30 pounds...so maybe by Fall, or maybe never? Lol I love this recipe even without the chocolate!
